Re-Stor Offsite Backup Server (OBS) is a server application which offers online backup services to its users.
Re-Stor Online Backup Manager (OBM) is a client application which backup data to Re-Stor Offsite Backup Server (OBS).
Step 1 :- Download OBM
Before you get started, please follow the instructions available on the OBM installation wizard to download and install OBM.
Step 2 :- Install and setup OBM
- After successful installation, OBM will be launched automatically.
- Enter backup1.re-stor.net in the [Address] field under the [Backup Service Provider] section.
- If you are using a proxy server to access the internet, please fill in the [Proxy settings] section.
- Press the [Next] button.
- Select the [Trial Registration] option to register for a new trial backup account.
- Press the [Next] button.
- Enter a login name and password of your choice (for the new trial backup account to be created on OBS)
- Press the [Submit] button.
Step 3 :- Create new backup set
- After successful registration, a new backup set wizard will appear automatically.
- Enter a backup set name of your choice in the [Name] field provided.
- Press the [Next] button.
- Select the files that you want OBM to backup in the [Backup Source] section
Press the [Next] button.
- Under the [Backup Schedule] section, press the [properties] button to review or make changes to the default backup schedule setting.
- Please note that you can use the [Add] button to add more than one backup schedule to a backup set.
- Press the [Next] button.
- For simplicity's sake, just accept the default setting for the [Encryption Setting] section and press the [Next] button.
- Press the [Finish] button.
Step 4 :- Backup and restore files
To backup your files, please do this:
- Select a backup set on the left panel.
- Press the [Start Backup] button on the top menu.
- Select the [Offsite Backup Server] option and press the [OK] button.
To restore your files, please do this:
- Select the [Restore] tab available at the bottom of OBM.
- Select the backup set containing the files you want to restore from the left panel (press the [Refresh] icon if no backup sets appear on the left panel).
- Select all files that you want to restore using the file explorer on the right panel and press the [Restore Files] button located on the top menu.
- If you want to restore your files to a folder other than the original folder, please make changes to the [Restore files to] section.
- Press the [Start] button to restore your files
Step 5 :- (Optional) Configure OBS
- Go to the [OBS Administration Console] page and logon with the following information:
- Login Name: YourLogin
- Password: YourPassword
- To manage backup accounts on OBS, please do this:
- Go to [Manage User] -> [List User]
- Click the [All] link available close to the top right hand corner
- Click the [Backup Account] link that you want to manage
- If you want to increase the backup quota of a backup account on OBS, simply enter the required quota in the [Quota] field provided and press the [Update] button.
- If you want to review any of the backup reports run by this backup account, please click the [Report] link available at the extended top menu.
- If you want to review the storage statictics of this backup account, please click the [Statistics] link available at the extended top menu.
